AKB48 is an idol group produced by lyricist Akimoto Yasushi and debuted in December 2005. The concept is "an idol that can be found". The unique thing about AKB48 Project is that fans can feel the process of developing their idols.
AKB48 has its own theater in Akihabara, Tokyo. Even though they have become a top idol, even now they continue to perform in the theater every day.
Members are selected through an audition process where participants come from all over the country. At present a team A, team K, team B and trainees have been formed.
